Back, back in time, back... to the Bacchae. Euripides' powerful and intoxicating tragedy from more than 2,400 years ago is shot through with violence and mayhem as a vengeful and jealous god descends on the city of Thebes. He is the god of wine, and as the women, the Bacchae, are enraptured they become aware that the king will not tolerate this new worship and fate thus decides that no one is in for a happy ending.

Themes that transfixed audiences in ancient Greek times, of social unrest and persecution, of frenzies brought on by alcohol and acts of hideous cruelty, find unsettling echoes in the songbook of the Tiger Lillies, and so it is that this new album presents the musical score for the band's performances in the touring production of the Bacchae in Greece and elsewhere this summer.

The album is being released as a CD, as well as an LP in two versions, in plain black or coloured vinyl, all of which are available in small quantities only.
