New DVD 'Tiger Lillies in Prague' out now

We have released a new DVD of the band which looks at its long history in Prague, Czech Republic.

Tiger Lillies in Prague by director David Čálek has an extensive interview with the band (over beers) of why the Tiger Lillies went to Prague and returned so many times during the last 17 years. There is a full concert recorded at the Divadlo Archa from September 2009 that has 22 Songs, plus recently discovered concert footage from concerts in 1993 and 1997. The DVD comes packaged in limited edition hand printed brown paper bags (for collecting dog poo) that are found in Prague parks.

Probably more than any other city Prague holds a special place in my heart.

We started to go there when there were no tourists. Just after the velvet

revolution. It still had the austere feeling of Communism, there were few

fancy restaurants or hotels. The only foreigners were artists, alcoholics, junkies.

It was a great time and we played in every bar and club that would have us.

There were many and we built quite a following.

We were managed by Ben Anderson, a funny painter who actually did a picture

of some Tiger Lillie flowers which were on my wall in London, and inspired

the name. He embraced the town and learnt the language and for us arranged

tours all over the country.

We also played in squats, sometimes to a thousand people, which was quite an

experience for a band used to playing to 50 to 100 people in bars. We drank

enormous quantities of Czech beer and Becherovka and Czech girls are beautiful...

It’s great that we continue to visit the town with the help of the Archa theatre.

I can definitely say it was one of the best times of my life...
