Budi Butenop

drums, percussion, vocals, toys

Skiffle inspired the 10yr old Budi to pick up the drums, well, washboard and a self-build cardboard kit. Fully self-taught he explored all kinds of genres and styles in more or less obscure bands ever since. In some he was main songwriter which he continues doing. 2001-03 he acted in and wrote the music for 3 independent theatre productions in Berlin. He also lead a monthly open mic for songwriters. He had his own one-man-band, a tragic outlaw cowboy, a follow up to a short movie character he played. In the ‘00s he drummed with the crustcore/punk band Allee der Kosmonauten. At the same time he played double bass, banjo, jaw harp, hammer and stone with the americana/roots duo K.C. McKanzie. In 2015 after many albums and long years of touring Europe, London became the new home for the now alt. rock duo Leisure Tank. That year also marks a first contact with Adrian and Martyn. Budi became workshop leader and instrument builder with the London junk orchestra. In December 2021 he finally joined the Tiger Lillies. Recently he’s played drums and bass on several singles and the 2021 album ‘Call me a cab’ by UK’s highly acclaimed beatbox-bluesman Son of Dave. 2022 saw him recording drums and bass on the debut album of post punk band Merriment and Dirt.
